If you are going to camp, show up at least one hour before close (call ahead to find out the exact time of close). To stay an extra night, you must re-register again before noon that day, or vacate by 2PM if not. Gathering of firewood is not permitted, so bring some with you. Sometimes, there is someone selling some outside the park, sometimes. Pets are not allowed.

There are many animals that hang out around the park. Some of which are: white-tailed deer, wild turkey, raccoons, vultures, hawks, snakes, alligators, wild pigs, etc. Those are just some of the common ones. They can often be seen in and around the camp sites. For hikers, you can use the Split Oak trail to reach Split Oak Mitigation Park. Split Oak has miles and miles of trails so get a map from the front office when paying to enter. The Split Oak trail head is located by campsite number 7. It may be hard to find. Just park near the huge pile of gravel and you'll see a road going into the marsh nearby. That's the trail. For boaters, there are two ramps, one on Lake Mary Jane and one on a canal connecting to Lake Mary Jane and possibly Lake Hart. | |
